Taranaki musicians and poets have teamed up to deliver an explosive night of entertainment.
Later this month six poets and six singer songwriters will perform together at a special event celebrating creativity and Taranaki talent.
Three months ago Taranaki poets and singer songwriters were matched into pairs and charged with working together to come up with a collaborative set worthy of performance.
“It’s been a fascinating process,” says poet Helen Griffiths, who is paired with musician Dave Ritchie Smith.
“Sharing a creative process is quite intimidating and at times intensely personal, but working together has been lots of fun.”
Ritchie Smith said all of the artists were pretty excited about the event.
“We’re looking forward to sharing what we’ve come up with later this month,” he said.
Artists who will take to the stage on the night include Missie Moffat and Colin Fromont, Emily Riordan and Dee Doherty, Janet Muggeridge and Virginia Winder, Andy Bassett and Gary Bovett, Laura Griffiths and Elvisa van der Leden, and Helen Griffiths and Dave Ritchie Smith.
The event is at Arranged Marriage and includes a buffet of Southern Indian cuisine.
Thursday, September 26, 7pm to 10, at Arraged Marriage. Tickets are $50 and include the buffet dinner. Bookings are essential and tickets can be purchased by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or messaging the Pop Up Poetry Facebook page. For more information visit the event page on Facebook.
