One of New Zealand’s leading performers is teaming up with a rising star of Taranaki’s entertainment scene.
New Zealand entertainment icon Jackie Clarke and Taranaki talent Josh Clarke have joined forces to present Clarke & Clarke, a cabaret dinner show being staged at the Devon Hotel this December.
Josh is the breakout star of 2019’s smash hit musical Priscilla Queen of the Desert, while Jackie is renowned for her maverick entertainment style, whether it’s treading the boards in musicals, sitting on the judging panel for NZ Idol, making music with her friends or being the MC at glittering events.
Jackie has toured with artists such as Dave Dobbyn and Annie Crummer, and starred in shows such as Mamma Mia, Anything Goes, and Sweet Charity.
Eighteen-year-old Josh, who has previously performed to rave reviews and standing ovations, says he is delighted to be able to share the stage with one of New Zealand’s entertainment icons.
“I’m ecstatic to have the opportunity to work with such quality performers and musicians at such an early point in my career,” he says.
“I look forward immensely to learning from someone as experienced and knowledgeable – as I’m sure Jackie is.”
Jackie, who was awarded an MNZM in 2018 for services to the entertainment industry, says she is looking forward to the two-night season in New Plymouth.
“I love Taranaki,” she says.
“I always have such a great time performing in Taranaki, the people are so genuine, engaging and supportive.”
The pair will perform songs from Bond to the Beatles, Cher to Sheeran and Adele to Abba, with Jackie and Josh joining the dance floor at the end of their show.
Devon Hotel conference and events manager Kristal Jenkins says the team is excited to be hosting Clarke & Clarke.
“It’s going to be a top class cabaret and a great mix of entertainment and styles,” she says.
“It will have really good appeal to a wide range of people.
“Clarke & Clarke will be a super opportunity for people for have a fun night out to round out the year.”
